A thematic investigation of constructions of time are an important, yet understudied area in apocalyptic literature.

The aim of this collection of articles is to show the diversity of time constructions in Rabbinic and Christian texts about the end of time.

The essays in this volume, representing the proceedings of a workshop held in May 2021 at the Einstein Center Chronoi in Berlin, are individual studies devoted primarily to little-known texts: rabbinic Midrash on the Song of Songs, the apocryphal apocalypses of Thomas and John, and Christian apocalyptic visions from the post-Islamic period.

The volume also offers systematic contributions on political eschatology, on typologies as apocalyptic text tool and the history of research on time in the apocryphal literature.

Scholars and students of Jewish and Christian religious history will find in this volume insights to a crucial but so far neglected topic of apocalyptic imagination.
