This anthology provides an introduction to poetry study in the classroom.

Accessible activities plus carefully planned teaching units encourage pupils aged 9-12 to engage with the material and consider poetic forms and their effects.

Themed units and activities - such as "me and my world", "magic" and "humour" - allow pupils to compare and contrast poems on similar themes, before moving on to consider the work of 10 key poets whose work spans from the 17th century to the present day.

Poets featured include Shakespeare, Edward Lear, Grace Nicholls and Carol Ann Duffy.
