Our Heritage and Common Life : Essays Honoring Frank Eiji Sugeno

See all formats and editions

This book consists of essays written from various disciplinary perspectives on two of the main concerns that have characterized the career of the person whom the collection honors: the historical development of Anglican identity and the mission of the church in a pluralistic society.

Part I relates to a prominent motif in Frank Sugeno's historical studies, namely, the adaptability of tradition.

The articles in Part II all reflect in various ways a subject that has informed Sugeno's thinking about mission, namely, how the church is affected by the pluralism of our time.

All the essays in this book are grappling with the phenomenon of tradition as Frank Sugeno has characterized it: something that can show us a way through life and a way toward God.

These articles suggest ways of maintaining our integrity as a community of faith, while we muddle through this meantime.
