Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice

Paul Mazursky directs and co-writes this 1960s comedy drama about a sexually liberated Californian couple, Bob and Carol (Robert Culp and Natalie Wood), who try to persuade their conservative friends Ted and Alice (Elliott Gould and Dyan Cannon) to be more open-minded about their relationships.

When Bob reveals that he had an affair while away on a business trip, Ted and Alice are shocked at his betrayal, but when Carol admits that she also had an affair and was actually encouraging of her husband's extra-marital activities, Ted and Alice begin to wonder whether they too should be embracing a more open marriage.
