The Divine Order

Swiss comedy drama directed by Petra Volpe. As the onset of women's suffrage and liberation movements take place throughout many parts of the world in the early 1970s, one Swiss farming village remains single-minded in its ideological outlook.

However, on a visit to town, bored housewife Nora Ruckstuhl (Marie Leuenberger) becomes radicalised by the suffrage movement and advocates her support for giving women the right to vote.

Tensions mount as the referendum nears and she clashes with her husband about her need to be valued as an equal component in the family unit.
