From Snowmen to Kangaroos : A Most Unlikely Journey

See all formats and editions

Growing up in post-World War II Sweden where food was scarce and the winters were harsh, a young Bill Peterson was forced to grow up quickly.

While trying to find his way in the world, he was lured to the shores of Australia and boarded the Cirrus, where the adventure of a lifetime began.

Bill arrived in the Great Southern Land with no English, very little money and no family or friends in 1961.

Utilising his skills as a man of the land, instilled in him from a young age by working hard on the family farm, Bill began to build a life for himself with his bare hands.

The kindness of strangers and the opportunities that followed gave rise to meeting and befriending people from all walks of life as piece by piece, Bill laid the foundations for a more prosperous life.

From Snowmen to Kangaroos showcases the pure grit and determination of the man who went on to design the Wiking Rollavator, an innovative agricultural machine, that could change the way people farm forever.

It is a raw, honest and at times chuckle-inducing account of growing up in poverty and working against the odds to build a better life.
