Marshal Ned McCarty (Duryea) arrives at the ceremony with a warrant for his arrest.

Ballard is personally accused of murder and the theft of $20,000 but has serious doubts as to whether McCarty is truly a U.S.

Marshal at all. Before long, McCarty has sowed seeds of doubt all over Silver Lode and Ballard finds himself a pariah in the town he called home.
