Cait Feirtear, or An Bhab as she is better known, was one of the very last storytellers in the Gaelic tradition.

From Dun Chaoin in Kerry, she was surrounded by storytelling since the cradle, having had both neighbours and family who regularly regaled visitors with tall tales, and was a torchbearer of that unique tradition.

People came from far and wide to her home in Kerry to hear her stories, and to learn from her about the craft of storytelling.

She has been recorded by many folklore scholars, and appeared regularly on radio and television.

In this wonderful collection, we get a taste of Bab's repertoire, with 19 stories from fables to rhymes and amusing anecdotes.

This collection will be of interest to those with an interest in storytelling and folklore, and also to those with an interest in the Gaelic traditions, in particular those of the Munster province.

It includes a double CD (or 2 cassettes) of Bab's storytelling, a precious reminder of the magic of the spoken word and a fine example of Bab's mastery of her craft.
