The human-animal interaction started to be considered as an object of study in the international scenario from the 1940s.

However, only after 1980 these studies gained strength through Ethology, Veterinary Medicine and Psychology.

Currently, researches in this area have focused on the attachment between caregivers and their pets.

Considering that there is not yet a concept of interspecies attachment, Bowlby's Attachment Theory has been chosen as the theory to explain this phenomenon.

Therefore, this work consisted of a research design that aimed at investigating the quality of the attachment relationships and behaviors that humans develop in the interaction with their pets.
