"The Gospel of Matthew", part of a series of daily study readings of the "New Daily Study Bible", incorporates the kind of language that is more appropriate for 21st century readers.

The language has been updated to make the essence of Barclay's work accessible to new readers, as well as those who already enjoy his commentaries.

Quotations are now taken from the New Revised Standard Version (Anglicized edition) and archaic references have been either omitted or explained.

The commentary also offers explanations of contexts, sources of quotations and other details.
