Clive Mason a 21'st century professional soldier is recruited to be a member of the first terra forming team to Mars in 2040 to pave the way for the colonists.

Because they would be isolated so long on Mars, they were given top secret drugs that would enable them to extend their life expectancy more than was naturally possible. On route to Mars an unpredicted meteor shower damages the ship, with all the crew members in stasis, some of the crew members are killed and some of the stasis pods are ejected.

The ship suffers damage to its navigation system and is knocked off course, only Mason survives in his stasis pod, but it malfunctions and continues to administer the life extending drugs.

Drifting through galaxies the ship is discovered by a survey ship and Mason in his stasis pod is taken to hospital on the planet Tomlin were his is resurrected from hibernation. On release from recuperation Mason takes in the sites of the city and comes across a race track where he strikes up a friendship with a race promoter.

With his new friend he embarks on adventures exploring new Planets and forbidden zones, encountering mutant insects eventually their travels result in taking him back to his native world.
