Allgemeine Naturgeschichte der Fische (General Natural History of Fish), a 12-volume, beautifully illustrated work in early ichthyology (the study of fish), was compiled by a German medical doctor and naturalist, Marcus Elieser Bloch in 1795.  Vintage Fish Species: Book 1 showcases a small sampling of the eye-catching fish illustrations found in Bloch's volumes which are now part of the Public Domain archives.

Bloch's illustrations in this softcover book are printed on high-quality 60# (100 GSM) paper to highlight the colorful, details in his fish artwork.
