DownXLaw, [Down by Law], chronicles the life and times of Dre, a member of a South Central Los Angeles Street Gang, a Sophisticated Criminal Enterprise.

As a Criminal Enterprise, the sophistication of Dre's crew was second to no other.

They treated Long Beach Harbor [shipping yard] as though it were their personal penny bank, capturing and fencing tens of millions of products on a regular basis and at will; never once having to use neither a gun nor the threat/perception of violence.

The author says, "Our motto was, venders don't buy blood." Fencing happened in a matter of hours to avoid being tracked.

Though always under very close observation of the F.B.I., the crew made off like bandits having never been caught.

However, in January of 2000, as irony would have it, Dre was wrongfully convicted for a crime [brandishing a gun by a felon] he never committed.

When asked of his crew leader (Peonie) whether he would secure counsel for Dre, Peonie retorted "I ain't my brother's keeper." The words of Minister Malcolm X came to mind, "To beat the white man, you must first learn his language.", Dre began to focus his seventh grade education on the study of law.

With time he became one of the best in assisting many criminal cases, and thus became the only jailhouse attorney on prison yards housing 1000s of inmates who had been left accept their fate.

In this three part series, many conventions including jurisprudence, psychology, theology are turned on their head. 21 years into Dre's 25 years to life sentence, former crew members are all deceased from their continued unscrupulous lifestyle.

Astoundingly, DeAndre was granted Parole at his first hearing, and now able to start his new journey as a writer and positive member of society.
