Developing distributed information systems in a systematic, cost-effective way is one of the major challenges for the software engineering community in the '90s.

Appropriate hardware and system software is available, but stringent methods for developing distributed information systems are not.

This volume bridges the gap between traditional systems engineering methods for centralized systems and the available or expected technology for distributed IT solutions.

It is intended as a supplement to both BOS Engineering Method/GRAPES and SSADM but its purpose is not restricted to developing applications with these methods.

The volume covers the requirements analysis, and the conceptual and logical design of a distributed information system.
