Slattern is Kate Clanchy's first book which won the Forward Prize and was highly acclaimed on publication in 1995.

As publishers of her second collection Samarkand it would be good to have both books on the Picador list.

This collection was described by Carol Ann Duffy as 'memorable', by the TLS as 'elegant and rich in wry observation.' Clanchy has a committed following and she is also a journalist who appears regularly in the Guardian and the TLS.
