Online learning has the potential to overcome the barriers of pace, place and time of learning so that it can in principle deliver learning to almost any location with a telephone line.

This book considers the nature of the different approaches to online learning in relation to adults who are socially or economically disadvantaged to reveal how this potential can be realised.
