Climate Change : The UK Programme : Summary of the United Kingdom's Second Report Under the Framework Convention on Climate Change - 2nd Report Under the Framework Convention on Climate Change

The UK's progress in implementing its important Climate Change Programme is reported in full in this second report.

A projection is given of what the programme is expected to deliver by 2000, and further projection is discussed.

The programme follows two main forms: an improved understanding of how the climate works; cost-effective, precautionary measures to reduce emmissions of greenhouse gases to avoid dangerous interference with the climate system.

As this detailed report shows, in relation to other developed countries the UK is meeting and exceeding targets, and will suggest increasing the challenge at the next convention in December 1997.
