This program is composed of two short segments. Part 1: Getting Started and "How To" examines the physiology of breastfeeding and suckling, discusses the first feedings including infant readiness, and demonstrates positioning and proper "latching on." Part 2: Problem Solving and Monitoring the Baby discusses causes and treatment for engorgement and sore nipples, and the importance of monitoring the baby including patterns of eating, signs of insufficient breast milk, weight gain, appetite spurts, and common myths about breastfeeding.
