See all formats and editions

This spelling manual contains over 40 photocopiable exercises, providing practice at the phonetic stage of spelling.

Using the "Hand for Spelling" method developed by Charles Cripps, which combines the visual aspect of spelling with the teaching of handwriting, the "phonetic stage" provides access to those teachers seeking a phonetic route into spelling. The words in this book contain the five short vowel sounds which begin mainly with single consonants, with the exception of some common digraphs (ch, sh, th, qu).

Endings are also all single consonants, with the exception of ck, ll and ss.
