Organized by decade, from the sixties to the nineties -- with "diversions" to specific subjects -- this is an autobiographical account of leading contemporary photographer (a favorite of Frank Sinatra) and proprietor of the finest music photo library in the world.

Born in 1936, Redfern's career began in the twilight jazz clubs of London in the early sixties, following on as the surge in jazz-derived popular music led to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Acker Bilk, Jimi Hendrix and Dylan.

From the grand old men -- and women -- of American jazz, the stars of the thirties and forties, Redfern now captures their successors in the eighties and nineties.

The spirit of each successive era is depicted in this unique collection, bringing his subjects to life with personal memories and anecdotes and introducing the contemporary audience to the photographic equipment and techniques of yesteryear.
