When the beautiful St. Mungo's School Garden is threatened with closure, Magnolia, Demmy, Stacy and Nat decide to fight for its survival.

The garden, it seems, belongs to the Brightwell Shoe Polish Factory behind the school, and its owner, Mr. Horace Brightwell, wants it back. The children write petitions and seek help from local conservation groups, but nothing they do works.

In fact, instead of praise, they are given a severe reprimand by their Head Teacher, the very scary Ms. Prissy Skillet. Unexpectedly, help comes in the shape of Wilba Sycamore of the Peaceborough Woodland Society.

Wilba soon realises that all is not as it seems, and the reason, she tells the children, is money.

Money is always the reason. A shocking intrigue is discovered involving powerful and ruthless people.

The children come up with an unusual plan to defeat them and it has amazing results, but will they win or will the garden be destroyed forever? Find out more at www.hawkwoodbooks.co.uk
