Thus, they adopted much from the Cathar lifestyle as ascetics, Credentes and Parfaits.

Once labelled as saints and their works miracles, they turned their skills to more mundane matters.

Centuries of this pedestrian lifestyle left them ill-equipped for dealing with the only enemy aware of their existence in the modern world.

When hell came to earth, it was a man they rejected, Guy Edrich, a half-breed they judged unworthy of them, who became the only capable defender of humankind.
