Babylon Revisited - The Screenplay

See all formats and editions

F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote this screenplay, based upon his famous story, for the producer Lester Cowan during the spring and summer of 1940.

The intended title of the movie was Cosmopolitan. The film was never made and Cowan sold the screenplay to MGM.

It was extensively rewritten and produced in 1954 as The Last Time I Saw Paris.

Recently Budd Schulbert, who was both friend and colleague of Fitzgerald, found a copy of the original screenplay among his papers.

It is, in the opinion of Fitzgerald experts, far and away the best example of his screen work in Hollywood.

For that reason alone, it deserves to be made available to scholars, students, and fans of the author.
