Expressing yourself using the written word can aid in healing emotional wounds by externalizing your abuse and helping you understand your experiences, the malevolent perpetrator(s) and yourself better.

Writing poetry provides much needed validation and allows you to release pain and process what you've been through, and sharing your ordeal through words can help and provide inspiration to others in various stages of their own abuse recovery.
