Memorandum to the Home Affairs Committee : Post-legislative Scrutiny of the Terrorism Act 2006

This memorandum gives a preliminary assessment of the Terrorism Act 2006.

It has been prepared for submission to the Home Affairs Committee.

Part 1 under the assessment of the Act looked at offences including encouragement of terrorism, preparation of terrorist acts and training, offences involving radioactive devices and materials and nuclear facilities and sites, increases of penalties and incidental provisions about offences.

Part 2 covered miscellaneous provisions including proscription of terrorist organisations, detention of terrorist suspects, searches etc and other investigatory powers.
