The main purpose of the register is to provide information about any financial interest or any other material benefit which a Member receives which may reasonably be thought by others to influence his or her actions, speeches or votes in Parliament or actions taken in his or her capacity as a Member of Parliament.

This is the fourth register to be published for the Parliament elected in May 2010.

Interests are registered under twelve categories: directorships, remunerated office, profession, employment etc; clients; sponsorships; gifts, benefits and hospitality (UK); overseas visits; overseas benefits and gifts; land and property; shareholdings; controlled transactions within the meaning of schedule 7A PPERA; miscellaneous; family members employed and remunerated through parliamentary expenses
