Transport (Wales) Act 2006 : Elizabeth II. Chapter 5

The Act provides the National Assembly for Wales with additional powers in relation to transport, in order to enable the development and implementation, in partnership with Welsh local authorities and other bodies, of a safe, integrated, sustainable and efficient transport system for Wales (known as 'the general transport duty').

This requires the Assembly to prepare and publish a Wales Transport Strategy to be implemented at the local level.
