Maths 4 Early Years

Maths 4 Early Years provides early years practitioners with a framework to help meet the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

It helps them to work with children and their parents/carers to transform attitudes to maths by making the maths used in everyday activities feel valued and fun.

This resource aims to enable practitioners to: recognise maths in everyday life; increase their confidence in maths and maths development in early years settings; increase their confidence in working with parents/carers to support maths learning.

Through family workshops, practitioners can establish positive working partnerships with parents/carers, giving them the opportunity to learn together with their children, share experiences from home and celebrate cultural diversity.

Practical workshop ideas are included within, which highlight the mathematical opportunities presented through everyday routines and activities.

The workshops are primarily designed to be carried out in an early years setting, but can also provide ideas for further fun with maths at home.
