This book is a very distinctive collection of essays by Tian Han.

It is an autobiographical oral family history recorded by Tian Han while living with his mother Yi Keqin in Nanyue, Hunan in 1941.

It records the life course of Tian Han's mother from 1872 to 1916 and the changes in their family, as well as Tian Han's growth in reading and watching dramas in his early years.

Tian Han successfully created a touching image of his mother by describing his mother's daily words and actions.
