Addressing parenting and anger management, this accessible, experiential and creative programme helps parents to think about and learn to manage their anger better.

Acknowledging that almost all parents have at least some difficulties with anger, PAMP is suitable for social work, counselling, mental health, justice and community work.

It provides guidance on: conducting sessions; the values and knowledge base; the support, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation that are essential to PAMP's positive, ethical and effective use.

Eight two-hour sessions, deliverable individually or in groups, help parents: think about why they are doing the programme and their motivation to change; assess their own anger; how it relates to their thinking, emotions and actions; what they need to do to manage it; reflect on their thinking, beliefs and mindset; and manage their emotional lives. It also helps them to: look at how mismanaged parental anger and parenting styles impact on children and their development; and how children learn to manage their own anger; reflect on links between gender and anger; and the impact of past traumatic experiences; learn safer ways of handling conflict, and gain confidence in their management of conflict and provocation; and sustain their learning and plan future progress.
