The poems in part one are organized according to a series of illustrations by renowned 19th-century artist Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld.

Each of his 21 pictures of Holy Week and Eastertide events is followed by an excerpt from the NKJV Bible.

Next comes a poem interpreting the illustrated event in the life of Jesus.

Part two contains more poems that reflect on the events of Holy Week and Easter.

The book contains 41 original poems, 18 of which match familiar hymn tunes.
