This text presents recent advances in immunogenetics concerning antigens on the trophoblasts, as well as the impact of parental sharing of HLA antigens on the outcome of human pregnancy, studied epidemiologically and genetically in a secluded religous sect.

Chronic (habitual) abortions and their treatment by means of leukocyte transfusions - a controversial issue - are dealt with in the light of recent data.

Finally, the post-natal transfer of lymphocytes from mother to baby by breastfeeding are discussed.
