Jack London (1876 - 1916) was an American novelist, journalist and social activist.

Pioneering the genre of magazine fi ction and prototyping science fi ction, he became one of the fi rst writers, who gained worldwide fame and a large fortune. As a road novel set at the Turn-of-the-Century, “The Valley of the Moon” follows the journey of a working-class couple of Oakland Billy and Saxon Roberts through central and northern California in search of beautiful land they can farm.
