Part of the European law series
See all formats and editions

This text deals with three specific competition law topics: selective distribution; exclusive distribution; and purchasing power.

It is contributed to by a group of European Commission officials, representatives for national competition authorities and judges from across Europe.

The views expressed have been given official sanction from the European Commission and offer an insight into the current workings of this area of competition.

On selective distribution, the book looks at questions such as whether the interpretation of a selective distribution network given by the European courts and the Commission is too strict or lenient and whether it is capable of taking account of new technologies. in looking at exclusive distribution, the commentators address one vital question: in vertical relations, do exclusivity arrangements dealing with distribution and exclusivity arrangements dealing with purchasing for resale restrict competition?

Finally, looking at purchasing power, the commentators discuss whether suppliers are too economically and commerically reliant on the large distribution groups.
