This book is based on a phenomenological study onundocumented Mexican immigrant mothers of high schoolstudents who have lived in the U.S. for at least five years andreceived social services.

Most of these mothers have emigratedfrom rural areas of the central and southern Mexican States ofGuanajuato, Michoacan, Queretaro, among others.

Accordingto the participants, socio-economic conditions forced them toleave their homelands hoping to find a better life in the U.S.
