About the Book

Books on the History of the Middle East describe some of the world's oldest civilizations, beginning with the Egyptian, and followed by the Assyrian, Neo-Assyrian, Iranian and Persia empires. Much of the Eastern Mediterranean region of the Middle East was absorbed into the Roman Empire in the 1st century BC, and much of it was later dominated by the Byzantine Empire. The rise of Islam ultimately led to the dominance of the Turkic speaking Ottomans over much of the Middle East, until British and French involvement. During the 20th century a number of new states were formed in the Middle East. Titles include: The Greeks and the Persians, Turkische Bibliothek, 9 Band. Beitrage zur Kenntnis des Derwisch-Ordens der Bektaschis, Kinship and Marriage in Early Arabia, A specimen of the civil and military institutes of Timour, or Tamerlane, Arab and Druze at Home, and Life and teachings of "Zoroaster", the great Persian.
