See all formats and editions

The fourth book in the series MS Morgan, this volume is dedicated to telling the story of the squadrons based at RAF airfields.
This book details the six squadrons of Spitfires and Hurricanes that flew from RAF Kenley during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Defending the southern approaches to the capital city, they in effect guarded the 'Southern gate'.
MS Morgan, a former senior police detective who spent years researching and investigating crime before writing detailed accounts for lawyers, now brings these skills to his books.
He gives a day to day account of the squadrons and their pilots, detailing air combat and finishing with a list of the many pilots involved. As with the other books in this series this is a must read for any students of the battle.
Morgan has spent many months researching the action via the National and RAF archives as well as various other sources before visiting what remains of the airfield.
