See all formats and editions

This casebook has been designed to accompany Clancy and McVicar's popular textbook, Physiology and Anatomy: A Homeostatic Approach.

As with the main textbook, this text views health as an ongoing process of psychophysiological balance, and thus ill health as a state of psychophysiological imbalance.

The editors have specifically developed this book to address the learning needs of nurses who have to apply their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the nursing care they provide.

An expert group of nurse teachers and experienced nurse practitioners have produced a wide range of case studies taken from the four branches of the Diploma in Nursing (Adult, Child, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities).

Each of these case studies provides details of the symptoms, identifies the homeostatic disturbance and shows how the clinical intervention and nursing care is aimed at restoring homeostasis.

The reader is continually referred to Physiology and Anatomy: A Homeostatic Approach where further details on physiiology and anatomy can be found.
