During two years the author spent in Tibet, at Gyantse, Lhasa, and elsewhere, he made many friends amongst all classes of Tibetans - high and low, rich and poor. Village headmen, monks, servants, local government officials, peasants, traders and many others have contributed to these tales. The author made no attempt to ornament or improve upon them and wrote them down just as he heard them, and have translated them from the Tibetan idiom.
