Foundations of Democratic Education

FOUNDATIONS OF DEMOCRATIC EDUCATION is a roadmap to becoming a teacher in a democratic society.

The authors take both a classroom perspective and a whole-school approach to train teachers to work collaboratively, develop and pursue a shared purpose, and take collective responsibility for all students.

By using IDEALS-an acronym for Inquiry, Discourse, Equity, Authenticity, Leadership and Service-to explore each topic, the authors demonstrate how to expand our knowledge of what works well in schools and classrooms.
