This set is a complete collection of the poetic works of Amy Lowell, in a facsimile reprint of the first editions.

Amy Lowell was intrigued with Japanese art and culture due to the influence of her brother Percival, a pioneering American Japanologist.

She started writing poems in her late twenties, including many with Japanese subjects at the core.

Throughout her life she continued to publish poetry, and all ten volumes are collected here.

She was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize, and though overlooked for many years there has been a resurgence of interest in Lowell by recent scholars of American literature as a great poet of Japonism and Orientalism, and as a poet whose work reflected her lesbian sexuality.

The collection is supplemented by her translation of Chinese poems, essays on poetry, and selected articles from poetry journals.
