Poseidon is the god of the seas and rivers. He is seen as the embodiment of prosperity and success for those who make their living on the oceans. He also symbolizes human emotions which will ebb and flow like the waves of the seas. He is often portrayed as violent and ill-tempered and is said to be the bringer of earthquakes and the creator of horses. Poseidon is called upon to bring balance in the form of justice and also to bring punishment to those who are unjust.
