This volume of 456 entries marks the completion of the Dictionary of North Carolina Biography , the most comprehensive state project of its kind.

Taken together, the six volumes provide information on more than three thousand notable North Carolinians--native and adopted--whose accomplishments and occasional misdeeds span four centuries.

A planned supplementary volume will include an index to all the volumes.
