Written to commemorate the author, Kevin Price's daughter Maisie, who passed away following a short illness in 2009, 'The Beauty Contest at the Zoo' is a fun, rhyming story for infants and first readers.

Its underlying message, that every animal is beautiful in its own way, gently closes the story. Because of the subject matter and the reason for the book's publication, the author has decided to support the charity, World Land Trust, with part of the proceeds from each sale.

World Land Trust, whose main patrons are Sir David Attenborough and David Gower, facillitate the purchase of threatened habitats around the world, then work with local organisations to fund park rangers to protect the wildlife within.

The author is proud to be associated with such a good cause and feels that it is a fitting tribute to his beautiful daughter, who loved animals and visiting the zoo.
