Poor and paying for it : the price of living on a low income

A detailed examination of the extent to which those living on low incomes are disadvantaged on a day-to-day basis throughout their lives.

It covers a wide range of goods and services bought and used every day including housing, energy and fuel, food, education, transport and financial and legal services.

Specially commissioned by the Scottish Consumer Council, the authors have highlighted many of the ways in which disadvantage is experienced in Scotland - but all the issues raised and problems identified are common to the whole of the UK.

Solutions to these problems are suggested throughout and these provide a practical base from which to start addressing consumer disadvantage.
