Annie : One of the Lucky Ones

A DVD that takes a powerful look at the issues involved in caring for a child who has been sexually abused.

This drama features eight-year-old Annie, sexually abused by her father, who is placed in foster care with her younger sister.

It shows how Annie's foster parents address the issues of making a family decision to take Annie and her sister, receiving the children into their home and helping them feel safe, helping Annie with ambivalent feelings about her parents, handling acting out, and working with the social worker to support visiting and family reunification. This video is one of three docudramas that make up the Ultimate Challenge: A Series of Foster Parent Training Videos.

The DVDs realistically portray the challenge of effectively fostering children and youth who have experienced physical abuse, sexual abuse, alcohol and other drug exposure and use, neglect, and multiple placements.
