This set of books is the Chinese world's first complete collection of the poetry of Shakespeare.

After several generations of translators' hard work and unremitting efforts for nearly a century of , the chinese-speaking world now has five sets of the complete works of Shakespeare's translation, the previous versions of the four sets all are prose translation, the three sets of which are based on the works by the famous translator Zhu Shenghao, (Mr Liang Shiqiu's independent translation is also prose).

This version, edited and translated by Mr. Fang ping, is the first poetic translation of the complete works of Shakespeare.

The original appearance of Shakespeare's plays is poetic drama, which is based on blank verse.
