Romeo and Juliet - Performed by Claire Bloom, Albert Finney, Dame Edith Evans & Cast

"Romeo and Juliet" is possibly the best known, the most lyrical and most tragic love story ever written.

It is one of Shakespeare's earlier dramas with a plot superbly constructed, each incident leading into the next until the final reconciliation of the two old fathers.

It is a romantic tragedy rather than a genuine tragedy, such as "Hamlet" or "Othello".

Unlike these, though the outcome is no less grievous, it is brought about not by a tragic flaw in the character of the hero but by sheer ill luck.

Albert Finney and Claire Bloom play superbly the ill-fated lovers, and in the part of Juliet's garrulous and devoted old nurse and go-between is the inimitable Dame Edith Evans.
