Design Guidance for Neoprene Lined Structural Clamps for Offshore Application

The document is concerned with a test programme investigating the slip capacity of neoprene-lined clamps.

In Phase I of the project, which is reported separately, a total of 16 full-scale tests were conducted at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada.

Based on the results of the Phase I tests, interim recommendations were made for the estimation of frictional coefficients.

The results indicated some surprising effects, and further tests were recommended.

The further tests have now been conducted under Phase II of the project and are reported herein.
