This ACOP offers practical guidance on regulation 6 of the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002, on the safe unloading of petrol from road tankers.

It also gives guidance on regulation 13 of the Workplace (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 about the prevention of falls from road tankers unloading petrol at filling stations.

The ACOP and guidance aim to prevent a fire through preventing the overfilling of the storage tank; control sources of ignition during unloading and dealing with any spillages that may occur during the unloading of a petrol tanker; and prevent falls from petrol tankers.
